This is the first time that a conference on this topic was initiated and organized by the Ministry of education. 250 guests participated in the Conference, including representatives of all relevant ministries from Serbia, as well as important social partner (educational institutions, chamber of commerce, people’s universities, NGOs etc).
The Minister of Education Dr. Žarko Obradović opened and moderated the conference. The aim of the conference was on one hand promotion and lobbying for adult and further education. On the other hand it was a good opportunity to include all relevant social partners into the reforms of adult education in Serbia and to assure their support for the measures planned.
The Minister of Education announced the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of Adult Education in Serbia. He explained the concrete steps related to the newly adopted “Action Plan for Adult Education” of the Serbian government and announced that a adult education law will be prepared and officially approved in autumn 2009.
