For years many of them lived in refugee camps and the work in the fields largely came to a standstill. Slowly the population is returning to their villages and tries a new beginning. But often the tools, the seeds, animals and everything else is missing, which would be needed to start farming again. There is a special demand for teams of oxen for ploughing the fields.

The Kolping Society of Uganda is committed to solve the people’s problems, since the number of Kolping Families has also grown strongly in this region. 31 Kolping Families with 1,146 members were formed in the diocese of Lira alone. However, the Kolping Families are not only an appropriate structure for the execution and implementation of projects aimed at reactivating the agriculture, but they are also an important place for the rebuilding of community, for the people had been separated for years in different refugee camps. The Kolping Society of Uganda will increase its activities in Northern Uganda in order to actively participate in opening up once again specific life prospects for the heavily stricken people of this region as soon as possible.
