In 2007 AWO International started a program for juvenile violence prevention in cooperation with local partner organizations in Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. In 2008 El Salvador was integrated in the program, the project activity in Nicaragua started in January 2009. In El Salvador the partner organization “Asociación de Capacitación e Investigación para la Salud Mental” (ASICAM) works with youth organizations in the communities Apopa, Tonacatepeque, Guazapa, Aquilares and El Paisnal. In 2009 the women organization IMU (Instituto de Investigación, Capacitación y Desarrollo de la Mujer) has joined the program. IMU works with three schools in the following communities: Apopa, Tonacatepeque and Guazapa. They implement different measures for working with youths. |
